Fire & water simulation
Datum
2025
In this project, I was tasked with creating two product images—one showcasing a water-resistant product and the other a heat-resistant one. Each image was to be created using a light or dark solid background to maintain a clean, minimal look and keep the focus entirely on the product.
To visually communicate the properties of each product, I explored fluid and fire simulations in Blender. For the water-resistant product, I experimented with water droplets and splashes to emphasize its protective qualities. For the heat-resistant product, I used fire and smoke effects, working with both Blender and Embergen to create dynamic and realistic smoke simulations.
A key part of the process was developing realistic textures. I took the opportunity to deepen my skills in Substance Painter, where I focused on creating high-quality, detailed materials that would enhance the realism of each render.
The base models for the products were CAD files sourced from GrabCAD, which I adapted and refined to suit the visual requirements of the project. This project was a great opportunity to combine simulation, texturing, and lighting techniques into a cohesive visual concept.
